Old Montreal Address Book: Ice Cream Shops

Old Montreal Address Book: Ice Cream Shops

It’s summer and the sun is here to stay. What do you do when you’re out and about, walking through the historic neighbourhood, and you begin to feel a little peckish? Nothing fixes hunger pangs quite like the sweet, refreshing taste of some good ice cream! This week, we’re going to show you where to find some delicious frozen treats to satisfy young and old alike!

Mlle Catherine café + gelato, 423 Place Jacques Cartier

Well-known for its adorable and oh-so-instagrammable ice creams, Mlle Catherine offers ice cream fans the classic flavours like pistachio and hazelnut, but their original cones are far and away the thing that sets them apart from the rest! We promise – you will be amazed by their delicious Ferrero chocolate or salted caramel dipped cones!

La Diperie, 170 Saint-Amable Street

Come see La Diperie and their more than 40 different coatings and dips that make for some crazy and fun desserts all summer long! Pretzel, coconut, Lucky Charms, cotton candy toppings… One thing’s for sure, they have something for all tastes here!

LApop, 436 Saint-François-Xavier Street

You probably know LApop for their mouth-watering waffles on a stick, but did you know they also have refreshing popsicles that are just as appetizing? Strawberry cheesecake, oreo, mango, kiwi… You’ll discover a whole range of flavours to check out while on a snack break with the kids during your summer vacation!

La Crémière, 127 de la Commune Street East

La Crémière creativity shines in their out-of-the-ordinary flavours, like their ketchup ice cream… which really divides crowds, as you would expect! And that’s not all! They also have organic vegan soy-based popsicles. Also, new this year and exclusive to La Crémière: the teddy cone! A must-try, no matter your age! And if you aren’t the adventurous type, you can always fall back on the classic flavours, like maple syrup, strawberry, or Nutella.

CA LEM Creamery, 315 Place d’Youville

Newcomer to Old Montreal, CA LEM is an artisanal ice creamery that serves homemade sorbet, ice cream, vegan ice cream, and soft-serve ice cream. Hosting classic flavours as well as tastes inspired by the four corners of the world, you will even find a soft-serve Bleu Blanc Rouge as a nod to the Canadiens in the series! Hockey fan or no, you will find the flavour here to help chill you out this summer!

Chat-Colate, 31 de la Commune Street East

A charming business themed around cats, their summer menu bursting with sorbet and ice cream will help you get through these hot days with a smile on your face. Chat-Colate is also the perfect place to find cat glasses, cat notebooks, or cat greeting cards for the feline fiend in your life… or maybe the one sleeping inside you!

Dulce, 250B Saint Paul Street East

It’s impossible to miss this little treasure in le Vieux, with its candy pink door inviting you to step in for a taste! Here you will find some excellent ice creams, of course, but we’re absolutely crazy for their churros! You have to visit Dulce at least once this summer!

Le Petit Dep, 179 Saint-Paul Street West and 461 Saint-Sulpice Street

The turquoise storefronts of these two boutiques await you with twists (dual colour soft-serve ice cream) that are as tasty as they are cute! Le Petit Dep: a staple of any visit to Old Montreal.

Bon appétit!
