Address Book: Halloween in Old Montreal

Address Book: Halloween in Old Montreal

Whether you’re young or old, we all look forward to trips, activities, and snacks in Old Montreal. And if you’re either looking for fun or looking to get scared, let’s just agree that the historic neighbourhood already takes the prize for setting and ambiance to make this day one to remember.

For adults, Old Montreal is the perfect place to celebrate this popular holiday with goosebumps, stories, cultural trips, or drinks.

The Pointe-à-Callière Museum is putting on two events you shouldn’t miss!

27 to 31/10: Set out on the ghost hunt at Pointe-à-Callière! This virtual escape game takes place every evening!

31/10: Halloween Night Tales from the Crypt! “Learn why it may be dangerous to tap maple trees in a cemetery, to sleep in a haunted house, or go out on the Day of the Dead…”

Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel: A Haunted Concert by Candlelight

On 31/10, come to the chapel to hear a unique concert, if you dare! This special edition of Candlelight highlights “haunted” compositions in an atmosphere of flickering candles… If that doesn’t frighten you at least a little bit, at least you’ll get shivers of enjoyment!

Jacopo: A Brunchtime Party

With its “Boozy brunch ” event, Jacopo proposes starting off the 31st right with family around a good table. After all, Halloween can start well before the evening!

For kids and little ones, autumn plans, pumpkins, and Halloween can be… child’s play! In the historic neighbourhood, there are several activities and ideas, and if they don’t make everyone shiver, they at least have something to interest both children and parents.

Château Ramezay: A Gourd Tradition!

This iconic establishment celebrates its 125th anniversary this year, and returns with its unmissable free “Pick a Peck of Pumpkins” exhibition! During this exhibit, you will learn more about the queen of autumn… and all her family. You’ll find out that these gourds “are found not only on the plate, but in beauty products, scenery, as musical instruments, and even in living rooms as decoration.”

Pointe-à-Callière: Storytime!

On October 23rd, 24th, 30th and 31st in the afternoon, the museum invites children 8 to 12 to discover the legend of McTavish, told by a lamplighter…

For foodies of all ages, Old Montreal is bursting with places to satisfy snack aficionados. We’re done with the traditional “Trick or Treat”, we’re going straight to fulfilling our taste buds!

Bar à Beurre: We’re all theirs!

First off, they have adorable pumpkin shaped cake pops that Vanessa and her team have prepared. And then there’s also their famous pumpkin spice latte, made with pumpkin syrup and spices prepared in-house. A double reason to stop here!

Les Glaceurs: Holiday cupcakes

Ghosts, pumpkins, mummies, and all the Halloween classics on cupcakes? It’s les Glaceurs surefire success, as beautiful as they are delicious. We don’t know if they put a curse on your stomach after eating them, but we have to say, it’s almost impossible to resist!

N.B.: If your establishment, store, or business has Halloween-themed specials and has not yet been mentioned in this article, don’t hesitate to let us know and we will add it here! Just write to info@sdcvieuxmontreal.com
